Yokoo Rocks

If you've never encountered this woman, please check her out. Yokoo! Even the name makes you smile. Yokoo exudes this almost other-worldly brand of confidence and gentleness that is simply captivating. Before I even really focused in on her beautiful needle wares, I couldn't help but marvel at the way she styles her photos: the clothes, the hair, the glasses, the shoes, the facial expressions and poses. Etsy Treasury

Ever dream of being a buyer for some ideal little shop? Well, that's what Etsy Treasury is kind of like. You just go shopping along the Etsy online aisles and pick stuff for your very own "treasury." You're the "curator" and you get to choose. Once you choose them, they're super easy to move around the order - it's drag and drop. You can only pick one item for any single shop, and you need to have a theme. I think it gets posted on the home page of Etsy if they deem it worthy. :o) It's fun! I just did one...check it out!

I smile from ear to ear whenever I am fortunate enough to be plucked from the Etsy blogosphere into an Etsy Treasury. This time, dear Ozetta added my vintage 50s yellow plastic bread box to her Etsy Treasury: the Kitchen to Have. I was listed a while back in another Treasury, so this is my 2nd time. Weeee! It's the little things...

t-Insanity

I think someone we know might have a wee bit of a prob with thrifting tins at estate sales. I just took them all out and squirreled the smaller ones into bigger ones (let the hubs think some of them found new homes. Not!) All I can say is I hope the vintage Remington Letter-Riter typewriter I just bought is not the start of some other, much heavier, problem.

So, I know I've been away for over a month but all I can say is: ugh, work. While early in the year I had no work to speak of (I'm a marketing writer by trade), now I am swimming in it. It's great to have the income, but I would prefer to dig through some spirit lady's dresser full of vintage linens. What would I do if money were no object? I think traveling, cooking, and baking sound like good ways to spend time. And maybe going out to dig for tins?

This tin, with the courtly couple, I bought off Etsy a while back. It was (is!) full of vintage sewing items. A fun purchase.

The next one, below, with the house scene, is German - from Nuremberg. Dis is a goot one!, as granny used to say. Oh I miss my grandmother, Wilhelmine Hubertina Slavic. She knew so much about keeping house, cooking, managing money, and generally enjoying life. I hope she is looking over my shoulder this minute, reading as I type.

Etsy Updates

Today I'm posting some new items on Etsy at my little shopling. I spent some time outside in the nice weather (no one from KY would agree with this, I'm sure, those poor folks...) to take pictures of some new inventory. I had some company as I snapped pics - this bee. He and his comrade in wings were buzzing nearby on the lavender. I am always happy to see bees, after last year's rough time. They seem to be doing better, don't they?

My Etsy Comeback

It's a new year, and I want to start posting things to my Etsy shop again! My first round did not prove successful, as there was nary a purchase, but maybe with new inventory? We shall see. Meanwhile, check out this darling child's tea set. I found it at an antique shop in La Jolla that was closing. The shop had been there for ages, but no more. Sadly, it is not unusual in this economy. I'll have the little tea set on "the shelves" of TheRobinShop by tomorrow. I want to take a cuter picture of it, maybe one without Miss Kate standing beside it?!
