Cozy place to sit

I think for a while I need to post quiet corners, images of places I want to sit and read or just be quiet. Aren’t you drawn to these sorts of places? What I love about this is, well, everything. But in particular, the way the bookshelf is built in, and of a darker wood than the light wall. The chair looks beyond comfortable. The big basket trunk as a coffee table is perfect. A roaring fire: check. The blanket on the chair – all ready to snuggle under.

I’m craving about a 6-month hiatus from work. Gee, do you think my work folks will sign off on that?

Living in a Nutshell, book signing & crafting

Last night, my belle mere and I went to a book signing at Warwick’s in La Jolla. The book: Living in a Nutshell: Posh and Portable Decorating Ideas for Living in Small Spaces. The author: the smart, fun Janet Lee. But, this was no ordinary book signing. We not only heard the author’s story, but crafted these really cute tassels using a wine cork, velvet ribbon, and pretty paper. And, yes, that is a bottle of champagne and a cupcake. Now, this, my friends, is the way to host a book signing. The cupcakes were delicious; made by the author’s sister. Her parents were there also; an adorable couple. Her dad invented microsurgery.

This yummy champagne is called Courtage. Made in France by a group of Americans with a passion for bubbly. Quite delicious and light. The bottles are tiny. Just enough.

Wallpaper the Whole House I Would

Marriage is a wonderful thing AND it seriously cuts into my love of wallpaper! I'd have every wall covered with the stuff. And it's not like I've even proposed it, but I feel that men think of one thing when they think of wallpaper: removing it. As husby gets older, however, his defenses must only be weakening when it comes to who makes the decorating decisions. I gain ground every year!

Oh, to Nap Here

I am always attracted to pictures of beds with pretty linens. Not unusual, I know. I think it's because, lately, my napping habit has been cut to a bare minimum. I've had lots of work; good problem, I know. Still, I'm trying to get in more blog posts.

This pic really appeals because it contains one of my most favorite pattens: gingham! There's something so fresh about it. More images like this one can be found in the Toast catalog. They have such great photography.
