Tasha Tudor's Birthday

On August 28th, various folks in blog-land will take some time to celebrate the one and only Tasha Tudor. I learned of this at a blog I read called Turkey Feathers. Another blog that mentions it is Storybook Woods, who asks that everyone spread the word about her birthday and that we take time to celebrate it!

I recently bought her book, Tasha Tudor's Garden, from an Amazon bookseller - www.blindmanbooks.com - and have been loving every page. The photography is beautiful and just immersing yourself in the writings about her life is a complete escape from life's hustle and bustle. It's so refreshing to read of someone dedicating their life to living the 'older ways.' And when you read that she said she would go back to that time when she passed away, you believe her! I know her afterlife is exactly that! It has to be. She's tending her garden, caring for her 'corgyn' (her plural for Corgi), and probably still placing orders for unique plant varieties. Hm? Wonder about that mailing address! :-) I love the woman. She lived such a simple, busy, beautiful life. Happy early birthday Tasha, and I'll be celebrating you on the 28th.

A detailed obituary that appeared in the NY Times is here. The book pictured here is available still on Amazon.

  1. Thank you for helping to spread the word about Tasha Tudor day. Clarice

  2. I am going to get this book as well, it sounds amazing and like it is right up my alley. Now as I am writing this, Mr cutie pie is right in front of me. I love Oreo, and always look forward to seeing his cuteness. I always look at his eyes and tail, but it is only now that I noticed him breathing. This is so cool and the cutest thing ever!! Don't you dare ever remove him or I will be heartbroken. Kisses big boy in heaven.
